Sunslider User Guide

1.1 Creating Your Account

• Language: Choose from English, Spanish, French, or Italian.
• Sign Up: Enter your email, username, display name, and birth date (Sunslider is only for users 16 and up).
• Invitation Codes: If someone invited you to Sunslider, insert your invitation code to help you find them and other friends already on Sunslider.
• Your Interests: Select at least 3 interests to help discover relevant content/new people to follow.

1.2 Setting Up Your Profile

• Profile Picture: Upload a photo or take a new one using the Sunslider camera; crop your photo to fit the frame.
• Display Name: In addition to your username, you can also choose to have a display name that others will see as you post content on Sunslider.
• Bio: Tell the people a little about yourself (150 characters max).

2.1 Automatic Privacy Features

Sunslider automatically protects your privacy by removing:

• Location data from all photos
• Device information (phone model, camera settings)
• Hidden timestamps and metadata

2.2 Three-Level Privacy System

Every post (slide in Sunslider parlance) and story (My Days) has its own privacy settings:

• Everyone: Public content anyone can see
• Followers Only: Only people who follow you can see
• Mutuals Only: Only people you follow AND who follow you back

3.1 Creating Slides

Slides are posts that are added to your profile and stay available on Sunslider. You can create them by hitting the "+ Slide" button in the middle of the navigation bar at the bottom of your screen.

• Take or Choose Photos: Use our in-app camera or select up to 10 photos from your photo library (you must give permission to access the photo library; Sunslider will not, however, have access to your full library but only the photos you select).
• Edit Your Photos:

  • Transform Mode: Drag to reposition, rotate to balance, etc.
  • Crop Mode: Choose aspect ratios (square, portrait, landscape, widescreen)
  • Filter Mode: Apply artistic effects (Mono, Noir, Vintage, Vivid, Cool, Warm)
  • Text Mode: Add text overlays with custom colors and backgrounds
• Reorder Photos: Drag to change the sequence of multiple photos
• Add Caption: Write about your photos (optional, with @ mentions)
• Set Privacy: Choose who can see your post
• Share: Your photos are processed and shared with privacy protection
• Videos: You can post a video on Sunslider as a slide, using either the in-app camera or your phone's photo library. Each video is limited to 23 seconds, and includes the same privacy settings as a photo slide

3.2 Sharing with My Days

• 48-Hour Content: Images disappear automatically after 2 days
• Single Photo: Each addition can be only one photo
• Text Overlays: Add customizable text with different colors and backgrounds
• Default Privacy: My Days default to "Followers Only"; you can change this in your Settings
• Save Option: Download your images to your device's photo library before they expire

3.3 Advanced Photo Editing

• Reset: Your original photo can always be restored with the full reset option
• Filter Previews: See real-time filter effects before applying
• Text Positioning: Drag text overlays anywhere on your image
• Aspect Ratio Tools: Grid overlay helps with precise cropping

4.1 Photo Carousels

• Photo Carousels: Swipe through multiple photos in a slide
• Gallery Mode: Swipe between different posts when viewing another user's profile
• Comments: View inline comments or tap to see full comment thread
• Positive Interactions: Tap the sun icon to "like" posts
• Detail View: Tap any post to view additional details

4.2 Interacting with My Days publications

• Tap Zones: Tap left/right to navigate between photos
• Progress Bars: Visual indicators show image timing and story position
• Long Press: Hold to pause playback
• Swipe Navigation: Swipe horizontally between different users' Days
• Like and View: Tap the sun to like, and see engagement if it's your Days

4.3 Following Feed

See posts from people you follow in chronological order, plus:

• My Days Strip: View friends' Days at the top
• Your Story: Create new Days or view/add to your current ones

4.4 Explore Feed

Discover new content and people based on your interests:

• Suggested Users: People with similar interests you might want to follow
• Privacy-Safe Discovery: No location tracking or behavior analysis

5.1 Invite Friends

• Personal Invite Code: Each user can generate unique shareable codes
• Share Options: Copy the link and share however you want
• Code Management: Regenerate a code if needed (invalidates old one)

6.1 Followers & Following

• View Lists: See who follows you and who you follow
• Follow Back: Easily follow people who follow you
• Mutual Detection: See when you both follow each other
• Privacy Controls: Your follow counts are visible, but lists are private

6.2 Notifications

• Activity Feed: See when people like your content, follow you, or comment
• Push Notifications: Off by default, you can enable this in Settings for real-time alerts on your phone
• Swipe Actions: Delete notifications by swiping in the notifications tab
• Auto-Read: Viewing the notifications tab marks all as read

7.1 Privacy Defaults

• Slide Privacy: Set default privacy for new photo posts
• My Days Privacy: Set default privacy for your Days (defaults to "Followers Only")
• Discoverability: Choose whether others can find you in search

7.2 Display Options

• Theme: Choose Light, Dark, or Auto (follows settings registered on your device)
• Language: Switch between supported languages
• Auto-Save: Automatically save slides to your photo library (requires permission)

7.3 Data & Account Management

• Export Data: Download all your data in JSON format
• Change Password: Update your login credentials
• Account Deletion: Permanently delete your account (90-day retention period)

8.1 Reporting Inappropriate Content

If you see a slide or other content that you feel goes against our published guidelines, you can report it using the following process:

• Report Function: Use the "Report" function available in the … menu when viewing specific content
• Report Process: The report will be sent to us automatically and treated as quickly as possible
• Report Outcomes: We'll keep you informed of any actions we take, which can range from nothing (if we feel the content doesn't actually go against our guidelines), to a warning to the offending user, to an outright ban

8.2 Blocking Content

For content and/or users that you simply don't want to see, even if it doesn't go against our content guidelines, we have a "block" function that lets you remove them from your Sunslider experience: you won't see them, they won't see you. You can manage your blocklist in your Settings.

9.1 Growing Your Network

Creating a social network that privileges real connections over viral videos and attention harvesting means we need to have as many of your real friends and family as possible on board. So be generous, talk about Sunslider and share your invitation code far and wide.

• Select interests that truly represent you for better discovery.
• Engage with others' content through likes, follows and comments.

9.2 Privacy Best Practices

• Keep your default privacy settings in mind and pick the ones that best suit your typical posting patterns.
• Use "Mutuals Only" for personal content.
• Remember that posts marked "Everyone" truly are public.

• Pull down on your feed to refresh content.
• Check your internet connection for upload issues.
• Restart the app if you experience problems.
