Sunslider is a EU-based photo- and video-sharing app that puts you first, with a chronological feed that prioritizes the people you choose to follow. We don't use algorithms designed to maximize engagement, we don't push ads into your feed, and we respect your privacy by not tracking your every move all across the internet.
v1.0 of Sunslider for iOS launched in July 2025. We're currently working to get an Android version out as soon as possible!
Yes, Sunslider will always be free to use. We'll have to figure out how to make money, of course, but when we do you can be sure that it will be transparent and offer you, our users, the choice of how to support the project. No matter what you choose, we'll always privilege the user experience over maximizing our revenues.
Unlike other social networks, we don't track your activity across the web, we don't sell your data to advertisers, and we give you simple, understandable privacy controls. Yes. Go to your account settings, select "My data," and you'll be able to download a complete copy of your account data in CSV format. You can also delete your account via your settings as well.
Generally, yes. Sunslider is built to European standards regarding social media use and legal requirements, prioritizing user privacy and choice. We don't actively pursue business in jurisdictions where authorities might compel us to unreasonably divulge user information, particularly regarding activities that would be considered protected speech in the EU.
Sunslider uses a multi-level moderation system based on our Content Standards (available on our website). If you encounter content that violates these standards, you can report it using the in-app "Report" function. If you experience unwanted behavior, you can block users from seeing your content using the "Block" function. No justification is needed - for blocked users, it's as if you don't exist on the platform. You can also easily delete any unwanted comments on your posts.
The first version of Sunslider does not include direct messaging. However, this feature is on our development roadmap, so we soon hope to let users who follow each other to send DMs.

Yes. While debate continues about the severity of social media's negative effects (particularly on platforms designed to exploit fragile aspects of our psychology), it's clear that excessive social media use isn't great for adolescents. So while we won't take a position on blanket bans or government-enforced age limits, we do have a clear, common-sense rule: If you're 16 or over, welcome; if you're under 16, we'll be happy to have you start sharing on Sunslider once you're a bit older.
