Sunslider is a small, independent tech company building apps for people who want to use their phone without being used by it. We're EU-based, ad-free, and focused on one thing: making technology that respects the people using it. No venture capital, no growth-at-all-costs mentality, no data harvesting. Just useful apps built to last.
We currently have four: the Sunslider social network (photo and video sharing with the people you actually know), Albums (automatic photo organization that turns your camera roll chaos into beautiful shareable albums), Scroll Break (a gentle nudge app that reminds you to put your phone down), and ReadMoar (a simple reading tracker with curated book recommendations). More in the works.
Sunslider is an EU-based photo and video sharing app that puts you first. The feed is chronological and only shows people you've chosen to follow β no ads, no algorithmic influencer/AI slop pushing, no tracking your behavior across the internet. It's what social felt like before it became a machine for selling your eyeballs to advertisers.
The social network is free and always will be. Albums has a free tier that lets you create your first album at no cost, with paid options after that use. Scroll Break is a one-time purchase for less than the price of a coffee. ReadMoar is free, with an optional one-time unlock for unlimited book recommendations. No subscriptions, no surprise charges.
We're based in France and our operations are housed within the EU. That means your data is stored on EU servers, we're bound by GDPR β the world's strongest privacy regulations β and we're accountable to the same laws (and pay the same taxes!) as our users. We think where a company is based says something about what it values, and on both the personal and professional levels we're happy to have the benefits and obligations of being European.
Unlike most social apps, we don't track your activity, we don't sell your data to advertisers, and we give you simple, understandable privacy controls. On the social network, every photo you upload is automatically stripped of its metadata β GPS location, device info, timestamps β before it ever hits our servers. We collect only what's needed to make the product work, and nothing more. For the full picture, our Privacy Policy is written in plain language and worth a read.
Yes. In your account settings, select "My data" to download a complete copy of everything we hold on you. You can also delete your account entirely from settings β after a 90-day grace period (in case you change your mind), all your data is permanently and irreversibly removed from our servers.
Use the "Report" function in the β¦ menu on any post. Our moderation team reviews reports and you'll be kept informed of any action taken. If you simply don't want to see someone's content β whether or not it violates our guidelines β the "Block" function removes them from your experience entirely, no justification needed. You can also delete any comment on your own posts without waiting for moderation.
No, and honestly we're not planning on adding it. We don't want you spending hours on the app, and we think you've probably got enough ways to talk to your friends already, without needing to open up the whole 'sliding into DMs' can of worms.
Yes β 16 and over. We think excessive social media use is bad for everyone, but also know that the harms can be even greater for younger users. While we won't wade into the debate about government-enforced bans (not here, at least), we've set a clear line and we stick to it. If you're under 16, we'll be glad to have you sharing with us when you're older.
