Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 18, 2024
Overview
ReadMoar is built with privacy at its core. We believe your reading habits are personal, and we've designed the app to respect that. This privacy policy explains how ReadMoar handles your data—which is to say, we don't collect it.
What we DON'T collect
ReadMoar does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. Specifically, we do not monitor:
- Your reading history, books, or library
- Your reading sessions or time spent reading
- Your goals, preferences, or app settings
- Any personally identifiable information
Local storage only
All your data—your book library, reading sessions, goals, and preferences—is stored locally on your device using SQLite. This data never leaves your phone unless you manually export it or delete the app. We have no access to this information.
Third-party services
When you choose to use certain features, you may interact with third-party services. These interactions happen outside the app and are subject to those services' privacy policies:
- Wikipedia: When you tap a Wikipedia link, you'll be taken to Wikipedia's website. We don't track these visits.
- Bookshop.org: When you purchase a book through Bookshop.org links, that transaction happens on their website. We may earn a small commission from affiliate links, but we don't receive any of your purchase information.
- Your local library: If you configure your library catalog, searches are sent directly to your library's system. ReadMoar does not see or store these searches.
In-app purchases
If you purchase the premium unlock ($7.99), the transaction is processed entirely through Apple's App Store or Google Play Store. We receive confirmation that the purchase was made, but we never see your payment information. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID or Google account, not to us.
Anonymized crash reporting
We use Sentry for anonymized bug and crash reporting to help us fix issues and improve the app. Sentry collects technical data about crashes (like device type and app version) but does not collect any personal information, reading data, or identifiable information. This data is used solely for debugging purposes.
Your rights
Because we don't collect your data, there's nothing for us to delete, export, or modify on our end. You have complete control: delete the app to remove all local data, or export your library using the app's export feature if you want to keep a backup.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how ReadMoar handles privacy (we don't plan to!), we'll update this policy and notify you through the app. The 'Last updated' date at the top will reflect any changes.
